Biblexica is a Bible reader with optional AI search and interpretation. This page explains how those features, hosting, contributions, and the two analytics services use information.

Reading and browser preferences

The reader loads bundled translation files. Its light or dark theme is saved in your browser under biblex_theme. The PostHog opt-out is saved separately under biblex-posthog-opt-out. A temporary storage check is written and removed before PostHog is allowed to start or send an event.

Restricted PostHog pageviews

PostHog measures visits only on HTTPS pages at biblexica.com and www.biblexica.com: the reader’s home page, Blog, Translations, Privacy, and Terms. Verse links and other paths are excluded even if they display the reader.

Each permitted page load sends an anonymous pageview containing the host, public pathname, address without query or fragment, and technical event identifiers, time, and SDK version. The SDK uses memory for its anonymous identity, with no persistent analytics identity or person profile. Geographic enrichment is disabled. Network requests still expose connection information, such as an IP address, to the receiving service.

PostHog does not receive query strings, fragments, referrers, reader text, selected passages, search queries, interpretation questions, form contents, email or payment details from this integration. Automatic interaction capture, session replay, custom reader events, feature flags, and external SDK features are disabled.

PostHog respects Do Not Track. It stays off if the saved choice is invalid or browser storage cannot be safely read and written. SDK loading failures leave it off for that visit. Opting out stops later captures on this page and other open tabs on the same host, as well as future visits while the choice remains saved.

Datafast is separate

The existing Datafast script measures page visits and reader goals. Page measurement may include the page address and browser or network information. The reader’s goal payloads use bounded metadata: translation, book, chapter and verse references; reading and display modes; search and question lengths; selected-text length and presence; result or error labels; and link destination labels. They do not contain raw search queries, interpretation questions, or selected verse text.

The PostHog control above changes PostHog only. Datafast keeps its existing behavior.

Hosting and AI exploration

Cloudflare hosts the site and API. Serving and protecting them involves request information such as IP addresses, requested URLs, browser details, and operational logs.

When you use AI search, your query goes to the API and through OpenRouter to a model provider. Interpretation sends your question and passage context, which can include selected text, visible verses, and reference, book, and chapter information. These services process the submitted input to return a response. Avoid sending personal or confidential information in those fields.

Contributions and external links

Support Biblexica opens a Stripe-hosted contribution page. Stripe handles information you enter there, including payment details. Church and tithe links open separate websites with their own practices. This site’s PostHog integration does not track those external pages or payment completion.

Cloudflare, OpenRouter and its model providers, Stripe, Datafast, and PostHog operate their own services. Their storage and retention practices are governed by their own policies; this page does not promise a particular retention period for them.
